Zephyrhills is actively engaged in a number of initiatives that encompass a two-fold economic development strategy. The first part of that vision includes a strong manufacturing/airport corridor where high paying jobs are created. The second part of the vision is a strong vibrant downtown where "community" can be enjoyed and the uniqueness of Zephyrhills can be showcased to locals and tourists alike. Working toward these goals are the Zephyrhills Economic Development Coalition (ZEDC), the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport (ZMA), and Main Street Zephyrhills.

The Zephyrhills Economic Development Coalition is a strategic partnership formed by the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Zephyrhills, Pasco Economic Development Council and Main Street Zephyrhills, Inc. The ZEDC Steering Committee meets monthly to discuss strategies for existing business retention and expansion, attraction of new business, and to identify and further economic development initiatives in education, infrastructure, transportation and other for the greater Zephyrhills area.

The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is an organization dedicated to creating a vibrant, revitalized central core district in Zephyrhills. The CRA was established in the early 1990's primarily for the purpose of improving 5th Avenue. The CRA set aside tax dollars for a specific purpose - improvement of downtown and surrounding City core districts. Currently it is trying to build community consensus and set priorities about how these dedicated funds should be spent going forward. The CRA has gathered some great ideas so far and looks forward to completing a plan of action sometime in 2011.

From Business Leaders

  • "Our client list has more than doubled and our shop income grown considerably in the short 18 months that we have benn in business. We believe our strategic location in downtown Zephyrhills, our old-fashioned approach to business, and our awareness of our market has all contributed to our success - a success that may not have been duplicated in a different kind of town."

    Kelly Lopez,
    Owner Bob's Auto Repair, Inc.
  • "They're real business-friendly here. The local banks have been very helpful; they want to help. Even the county's zoning and permitting has been OK. I think we're in an area that's easy to get to. We're not far from the Interstate 4 corridor, and, right now, land prices are a deal around here."

    Denis Bulin,
Entrepreneur and Owner of Zeagle Systems
  • "The future of Zephyrhills is bright as it is part of an emerging "Super Region" consisting of the greater Tampa Bay area. It is connected to the global marketplace via the CSX Railroad, Interstate and Highway System, the local airport and the Port of Tampa."

    John Scott,
    President Greater Zephyrhills
    Chamber of Commerce
