The Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce has launched a new event this year.

As the name suggests, BBQ & Blues will feature a BBQ competition amidst a background of the blues music. Event-goers will have opportunities to sample the culinary creations of both local and out-of-town BBQ chefs. In addition there will be an antique car show and something for the kids.

RED CARPET BANQUET

The posh affair will be held at the elegant Bentley Commons dining room at the corner of Pretty Pond Road and US Highway 301 overlooking the trendy Zephyr Commons Shopping Center.

This year’s theme is “Walk the Red Carpet” and will emulate the awards celebrations of those denizens of that other “Hills” located in Southern California. A genuine red carpet will be rolled out for attendees complete with opportunities for a red carpet photo shoot.

A dinner catered by the exclusive Maine-ly New England will be overseen by the famous “Chef to the Snowbirds” Michael Mira, who also happens to be the outgoing Chamber president. In addition there will be an open bar included in the price of the meal and a 50/50 drawing.

Chamber Seeks Community Awards Nominations

The Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Annual Membership Appreciation and Community Awards.

The categories are: Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Leadership in Government Affairs, Volunteer of the Year, Community Involvement (Group), Leadership in Youth Involvement and the Alice Hall Community Service Award.

Nominations are open to the public. Any business, organization or group can be nominated for the Annual Awards; Nominees do not have to be a chamber member.

The Awards will be presented at the Annual Awards and Installation Banquet to be held September 16, 2010 at Bentley Commons.
